Spencer is especially thankful and takes great pride of being given the privilege of representing two families before the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund where he acted as a volunteer attorney for Trial Lawyers Care.  This proved to be one of the most rewarding experiences of his career as he helped two widows and their children deal with the significant and tragic loss of their husbands/fathers. He received recognition from Past President of  the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, David S. Casey Jr., and past Chief Executive Officer, Thomas H. Henderson, Jr. for “…outstanding services to individuals and families who sought compensation under the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund…”  “…It is our distinct honor to recognize and celebrate your essential contribution to this achievement…”

Spencer is also proud of his volunteer work in Nassau County in the community where he lives where he fought to promote social justice and stamp out hate.  In the face of local bias incidents, he organized and led a “March for Tolerance” in which students and adults of different ethnic, racial and religious backgrounds made a visibly powerful statement that the community was committed to respecting the beliefs and practices of all people.  Spencer received an award for the March in 1997 in Washington, D.C.

Spencer has been recognized as a founding member of the National Campaign for Tolerance by co-chairs Rosa Parks, a trial blazer of the civil rights movement and Morris Dees, former head of the nationally recognized civil rights organization, Southern Poverty Law Center.  Spencer, as a labor of love, leads an annual Holiday Singing and Toy Drive at a residential facility for brain-injured children.

Testimonials:

One client’s teenage son had this to say about Spencer’s representation:

“…Its people like you who make a difference in the world, where small actions make big impressions.  As a maturing adult I intend to follow in your actions to make a difference in others’ lives…”

A recent client who sustained serious injuries after being knocked off his bicycle by an SUV:

Top notch firm! My team of legal counsel was stellar throughout a trying period of rehabilitation from my injuries and a legal matter which was to be decided by the courts. My expectations were managed firmly and my recovery was commensurate to my ordeal. I could not have imagined a better team to support me from beginning to end!
